FAQ
Answers
What is the cheapest way to ship one car from China?
Usually RoRo, if a service calls the discharge port. If it does not, a shared container with other cargo going to the same port is often the next best.
Can a non-running vehicle be shipped?
Yes, in a container with winch loading or as breakbulk with a crane lift. It cannot go as RoRo because it cannot be driven up the ramp.
Do you ship personal effects inside the vehicle?
We discourage it and many carriers prohibit it. If it is permitted on your service, it must be declared on the packing list.
How long does shipping take?
It depends on the route and whether the service tranships. We quote the current through time in writing with the quotation rather than publish a figure that goes stale.
Is insurance included?
No. We recommend all-risk marine cover on every vehicle shipment and can place it for you at cost.
Can you clear customs at the destination?
Yes in West Africa and Madagascar, where we arrange the destination clearance ourselves. Elsewhere we ship and hand over to a licensed broker nominated by the consignee, and we say which one applies at the enquiry stage.
What if the vehicle is damaged in transit?
The condition record made at loading and at discharge is what a claim rests on. We photograph and record condition at both ends for every shipment.
How early should I book?
As early as possible for breakbulk, which needs space and a lashing plan. Containers and RoRo can usually be booked closer to the sailing.
Can you consolidate cargo from several suppliers?
Yes. We can receive at a consolidation point and load together, which is often the cheapest option for mixed vehicle and parts shipments.
Do you handle export customs clearance?
Yes, for shipments we book — declaration, commodity classification and inspection coordination are part of the service.
